Duties: Provides oversight and monitoring of daily operations for the Middle Market Underwriting unit, including support services provided by the Underwriter Associates. Acts as a referral Underwriter, trainer and overall point of authority for the Commercial Underwriters. Assists Commercial Insurance Division (CID) Vice President with planning, developing, establishing and adherence to policies, procedures, underwriting guidelines and authority levels. Accountable for the achievement of premium, retention, loss ratio, expense and marketing goals for the unit. Manages the producer force, with a focus on producer relationship management. Supervises assigned staff and ensures tasks are completed in a timely manner and excellent customer service is provided. Serves as a subject matter expert and resource to other staff. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required, preferably in Business Administration. 7 years commercial underwriting experience required; and successful managerial experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education, technical, sales and supervisor background experience will be considered. Continuing education in insurance and job related issues and subjects required. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Hawaii Driver's license and use of own vehicle required. Attainment of or working toward CPCU or other professional designation(s) preferred. Annual Salary Range: $100,000 ~ $150,000. Commensurate with experience.
